“It is finished!” – John 19:30
One of the greatest tools we have to combat AWDF is to remind ourselves that Jesus has already won complete and total “victory” (1Co 15:54–57; 1Jn 5:4) for us over sin, Satan, and death (“It is finished,” Joh 19:30; cf. Luk 10:18; Joh 12:31; 16:33; Rom 8:28–39; Eph 1:20–22; Col 2:14–15; Heb 2:14; 10:10–13; 1Co 15:24–26; 2Ti 1:10; 1Jn 3:8; 4:4; Rev 1:17–18; 11:15; 12:7–13; 15:2; 20:14; 21:4; see also Gen 3:15; Mat 16:18; Psa 125:1–2; Isa 54:17; Joh 10:27–29; Heb 12:28), and there is nothing whatsoever that anyone or anything on, under, or above the earth can do to change that (Rom 8:28–31, 37–39; cf. Rom 14:11; Php 2:10; 2Th 1:6–10; 2Ti 2:13; Rev 19:11–21; 20:10–15; 22:20)!
So, while Satan is your accuser, remember that Jesus is your “Advocate” (1Jn 2:1; cf. Heb 2:18; 7:25) and “mediator” (1Ti 2:5; Heb 8:6; 9:15; 12:24), and how much greater it is to have Almighty God on your side than a mere created angel (Rom 8:31–39; 1Jn 4:4; Joh 10:29; Eph 3:20; 2Ti 1:12; Jud 24; Php 4:13)!
We further read,
- “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1Co 15:57), and
- “But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom 8:37–39).
CHAPTER PRAYER
Eternal Father in heaven, thank You for all that You have done and are still doing, and alleluia to Your holy Son, Jesus, Your Christ, who has prevailed for me! He has given me victory over sin, Satan, death, and all things in this world, along with the assurance of eternal life in Him. Help me remember that I can do all things through Christ in me and that the Spirit can turn my weakness into power for God’s glory. Help me to also realize down deep that Jesus is reigning in His kingdom right now from heaven. All glory, honor, and praise go to You and Your Son. Amen!
