A Benediction

A benediction to the Lord

Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth” – Psalm 46:10 (ESV)

God does not grow tired.
He does not grow weary.
He does not need a day off.
He does not need to call in sick.
He does not need a vacation.
He does not need to stop and rest.
He does not need a time-out.
He does not need to stop and catch His breath.
He does not need to sleep.
He does not give up.
He does not need a second chance to get it right.

He does not hope He can. He does not hope it may.
He does not hope He might; He is might.

He does not wish He could.
He does not wonder if He will;
It is His will.

He is not surprised. He is not caught unaware.
He sees all. He knows all. He is everywhere.
He is omniscient. He is omnipresent. He is omnipotent.
And He will judge all.

He doesn’t need to ask permission.
He doesn’t need to pay better attention.
He doesn’t need to take more classes.
He doesn’t need to learn anything new.
He doesn’t need to wait to see what will happen.
He doesn’t depend on mere man for His will to be done.

He is not ignored.
He is not disrespected.
He is not mocked.

He doesn’t lie. He doesn’t omit truth.
He doesn’t tell half-truths. He doesn’t change His mind.
He doesn’t break His promises.
He doesn’t forget you. He will not forsake you,
Ever and forever.

He is patient. He is loving. He is kind.
He is slow to anger. He is merciful. He is righteous.
He is holy. He is glorious.
He is just. He just is.

He is who He always was.
He is who He is right now.
He is who He will be for all eternity.

He is not overcome.
He will prevail.
He has prevailed.
He is with you this very instant,
Right now, right where you are.

For He is Creator of all, before all, for all, in all, through all;
He upholds all and is after all, above all, and all in all.

Rest in the eternal peace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,
today and forevermore. Amen.

Photographer and author R. John Anderson has journeyed the world over to capture the natural beauty of God’s creation. Having traveled to many countries and continents in a span of over thirty years, he has seen the amazing artistry that can be found in all types of locations, from the glacial fjords of polar Greenland to the wild Serengeti plains in Tanzania to the rich rain forests of Costa Rica. Nature’s greatest natural beauty often lies in the harshest deserts, remotest wilderness, and sub-zero ice-covered regions.
